I only seem to be able to access half the entry. It would be easier to read if we have the whole'
record page. ;)Sandra

This is what I make of it.
Thursday 16th March 1699
James Tweedie worker and Elizabeth Borthwick a daughter named Marie
W. Robert Gray of Rickarton(?) Alexander Borthwick of Hallanhill (?) John Gorvan merchant
William Jameson Glover
Presumably these four men were godparents or sponsors. I do not know what N.K. means

There is a thing to scroll across to see all the image.
Thanks for the help!

NK is North Kirk (see http://www.ancestor.abel.co.uk/inv/marrc.html (http://www.ancestor.abel.co.uk/inv/marrc.html) ).
Could William Jameson's occupation be glazier?

I think it's Fallow Hill.
N.K. could be the minister's initials.

I did think James' profession looked like 'writer' initially, but it could be worker???

You could be right. I can't see o in it, and this scribe doesn't appear to dot his i.

It turns out he was 'Writer to the Signet'. I found a pedigree for the Borthwick Lords of Crookston, which comes down to James Tweedie, WS. I looked up the abbreviation and found this out.

So he is equivalent to an English Solicitor!
