Please could someone locate the 1841 and 1851 census records for Ann Francis, born Llanerfyl, I believe around 1827/8. Also, I think she may have had a daughter in her maiden name around 1854.
Also the same censuses for a William Jones, born c.1818 in Llanfair. I think he was a farmer and might have been married to a Susannah.

Thanks. I think all these findings are pertinent. My gg grandmother Susannah Jones was b Llanerfyl 1853/4 and I have been unable to trace her. I found a transcript of a Llanerfyl parish record showing a Susannah Francis b 1853 with father's name shown as William Jones and mother Ann Francis. As I can't find a marriage record with this combination, I assume they never married or that William was already married! I picked the Llanfair William because in 1861 he and family lived at an adjacent farm to Ann and Susannah. However, I have no evidence that there paths actually crossed - so I wonder if the father was actually from Llanerfyl. Incidentally, when Susannah married in the 1870s, she was resident in Crane township so this adds weight to Ann being her mother - Crane is a small place.
Does anyone have access to the parish records of 1853 for Llanerfyl? I guess there were a number of William Jones's around - probably the 1851 census is the most relevant to find a local one to Llanerfyl. Would still be grateful if someone else could help.

Sorry to disappoint but there is no Susannah mentioned in the parish records for 1853/4. I am intrigued re the entry that you mentioned and would be interested to hear more.
There is a Susannah Rowland (no Bapt - possibly non-conformist or in another parish) a few years earlier, she is 9 in 1861, 19 in 1871 and is married to Edward Jones ( age 21) who states that is birthplace is Guildsfield.

Thanks Lleucu. However I have now found a record for a baptism of a Susan Jones/Francis to William Jones & Ann Francis from 1853 in the neighbouring township of Garthbeibio. Clearly the couple were unmarried and William's abode is shown as Llandrinio which is some miles from Llanerfyl. I can't quite read Ann's abode but I think it might be Chraen i.e Crane which ties in with the census records above. Although geographically adjacent to Llanerfyl, I have seen somewhere that for parochial matters Crane fell under the auspices of Garthbeibio slightly further west. I am encouraged by my findings but one or two things still trouble me such as Williams's occupation - Labourer on the baptism record yet Farmer on Susan(nah)'s marriage certificate. And why there is am impled yob of 1856/7 at her wedding in 1877 when the baptism and later censuses would agree on 1853/4?. The search continues... I will first of all try to identify which William was in Llandrinio.

The abode at time of baptism in Garthbeibio is Ty Green. Craen is the name given to a township in the parish of Llanerfyl as well as being the name of a dwelling in said townsip and parish. Craen has no connection with Garthbeibio parish

Hello there - I just read your query re Jones - and I am trying to find more info about a William Henry Jones born around 1821 in Llanfair....!
He came to New Zealand and married Keti Kautarewa Nukutaia...(Maori) - we believe they married around 1852... not sure if this is of any use to you??

Very interested in these Jones. Can anyone help me with these Jones from the same area? Don't know if they are related, or if there are just lots and lots of Jones!!! I'd love to know more dates and details eg birth dates, death dates, any other children/relatives, where they lived, etc.. many thanks
John Jones was born in 1829 in Llanfair C. He married Sarah Lewis on 4th June 1851 at Llanfyllin, Montgomery. His father was also called John Jones (born approx. 1803 in Llanfair C)
Sarah Lewis was born in 1822 in Llanfyllin. They had daughter Elizabeth Jones on 19th May 1854 or 1852 in Llanfair Caereinion. Sarah’s father was Evan Lewis (born approx. 1796 in Llanfyllin).
Their daughter Elizabeth then married Edward Thomas on 1st February 1874 in Llanfair Caereinion.

Sorry but none of the names you mention ties into my own research. But you are right - there are an awful lot of Jones's and unless you have supplementary details they are very elusive!
If you have access to the UK censuses, say from 1851, they would be the quickest way to find children of the marriages described.
