Jane Wiggin (Wiggon) was my great great great great great grandmother who was baptised on 22 February 1697 at Harewood, Yorkshire - according to Family Search her father was Robert Wiggon.
She was married to Robert Burnell (baptised about 1700) on 23 November 1720 at All Saints Church, Harewood. I cannot progress any further back and I would be grateful if anyone could suggest how I could find out further details of her father and mother, and of her husband Robert Burnell - descendants often spelt as Barnell. I was wondering, as they were married in the Harewood Estate church id they might have been employed on the Estate. Does anyone else have these ancestors?

Hello,
Just a little more information, the above mentioned baptism for Jane states her father was Robert Wiggon of Wigton - situated approximately 3.5 miles from Harewood.

Kind regards,

I've no way of knowing whether these are the details for Jane's father, apart from the date making it a good possibility :
Birth : 1st November 1767
Robert Wiggon, son of William and Sarah Wiggon of Lofthouse.
Baptism : 31st January 1768
Harewood, All Saints
Might help if I'd found the right century.

Hi Pels
It could not have been Jane's father Robert as Jane was baptised on 22 Feb 1697
-
Sorry, I realised that the minute I'd posted it - hence the lines through what I said. To be honest my eyes are struggling with the old script.
Marriage - 1692
Robertum Wiggin in parochia de Harwood, et Elizabetham Beanlands
Parish of Ilkley
I think the month was October.

Pels, that is great it ties in with the baptisms of Jane's sisters - the earliest one being Elizabeth Wiggon 19 Nov 1694 at Harewood.

Cross checking with Family Search, I can't find anymore children born to Robert after Faith in 1702, hoping of course that Faith was another of Jane's sisters. If she was, it's a long shot but could this be Robert's burial :
Burial : 22nd September 1703
Robert Wiggin of Wigton
Harewood, All Saints

The baptism record for Faith in 1702 claims that her father was Robert Wiggin of Wigton.

Hi again,
I found it quite by accident, I was trying to google the following to save me typing it out.
~~~~~~~~~~
The history and antiquities of Harewood.
Extinct Villages.
In the list of villages in the Warburton Collection, Lansdowne Mss., Lofthouse is mentioned in connection with all the neighbouring villages of this name in the West Riding, Lofthouse in Harewood is meant and that it was a village about the year 1600.
There were two public houses in Lofthouse formerly, and in the old maps the locality is dotted over with cottages.
In the deed of sale when the estate was purchased from the Earl of Strafford by Sir John Cutler, I find the following tenant farmers named ; - William Hawke, Wm, Smith, John Hopwood, Ann Renton, Robert Wiggin, Peter Wright, all holding farms in Lofthouse. As in the case of Stockton, two farm houses which alone remain to show where the village stood, still retain its name.
As you see, I found one - but not the other ! ;D ;D
I'll post the second page on a separate reply.
