Title: 4th Battalion Middlesex Regiment
Post by: cornish milly on Saturday 12 January 13 12:39 GMT (UK)
I am trying to find a service record for Robert Mcintosh Bell (DOB 1883 in St Pancras London) who I believe was serving in the 4th Battalion Middlesex regiment in 1915 and possibly later the 6th Battalion.  He survived the war but I cannot find any service record even his service number.  In 1915 he may have been a Corporal and subsequently a Sargeant. Any help greatly appreciated.

As you probably know there is no identifiable medal index card to a man using that middle name although there are two possibles from the Middlesex, one of whom was a sergeant. The surviving records unsurprisingly do not include him and the only pension record is for a soldier who lived in Glasgow and who is plain Robert Bell.

Roughly 2/3 of the WW1 Service Records were lost in a WW2 bombing raid!?

Looks the records you are looking for were amongst the lost records.
