Post by: cowboy on Wednesday 07 July 04 22:25 BST (UK)
Hi, I`m  a newbie at this game,so any help would be much apreciated :P.

I am trying to find a Charles and Laura pexton(nee GILL).
They lived in Sheffield , and I am told they had four children,

   a. Ruby
   b, Douglas dob 12/02/1917
   c,  Jack
   d,   ?
Charles was a joiner by trade.
I don`t know if Charles originaly came from sheffield,as I don`t seem to be getting anywhere at the moment, as without his birth date I can`t  connect to  the family tree.

cheers Ian

Dont Knowabout this one Ian A known DOB in 1917 they probably were not yet married in 1901. There is no Laura Pexton on the Census

There is a Charles 34 in Nether Hallam He is 34 a coach body maker. He was born Gainsby Linc No wife but children Blanche 7 and Mabel 6 born Gainsby

Then there r Charles 13 born and living in Scarborough he is living with
Frances 16 a house carpenter apprentice
Mary 46 a Lodging House Keeper
Thomas 17 a Drapers Assistant
They were all born Scarborough Yorks

That is all the Charles I can c in Yorkshire

Charles 15 Born Kirkheaton living Huddersfield an Errand boy
He is living with Billy 53 a Blacksmith
Eliy 48
Frank 17 an electrician all born Kirkheaton

Charles 44 a blacksmith b Kirkheaton living Lepton living with
Clara 37 b Kirkheaton
Amy 3 b Kirkheaton

There are also too many Laura Gills so sorry without more to go on There is a 21 year old also in Nether Hallam..Then there is a 2 year old in Sheffield who could have had a child in 1917 also and lots in Yorkshire

Sorry not much help without more to go on
Kris

Many thanks for your reply. I do know of some of the the other Pextons you have listed, but its just trying to tie one of them in to the tree.

Is it possible to get information from the cencus with just an address ?.

I think that I may have to try further back and try to go back a generation or two, and see if the line can be brought forward, that way I might drop on lucky.

Anyway Krise, thanks for your time and effort , its always nice to receive a reply.

cheers .  Ian.
