Hi
Can anyone look up a marriage for me please. I don't know which church but it was Carlisle, Q1 1854 between Robert Ladyman & Annie Graham. I believe Robert was from Cockermouth & a widower whilst Annie came from Brigham. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
Unless any local transcripts exist - you need to know the venue to look it up in parish records
The Carlisle RD covered many areas

Hi
Sorry, didn't realise how big an area it covered. I will try to narrow it down somehow.

Have you already looked up the census? They are there in 1861 and 1871, on Main Street, Cockermouth. Robert is a grocer.
Carlisle does cover a lot of area now, but in 1824 there weren't actually that many churches. Carlisle had only just started to take down the walls around it and expand. Most of the surrounding area had their own registration districts, e.g. Dalston and Brampton, so it may not be such a daunting task after all.
