Title: Searching for Issacs
Post by: anniedwyer84 on Wednesday 09 January 13 10:37 GMT (UK)
Hi everyone  :)

I'm searching for any living relative of my 3rd cousins family in Australia. Here's what I do know about her. Her name was Catherine Ryan b. 1909 in Tipperary, Ireland to John Ryan and Mary Jane Dwyer. She married Roy Edward Issacs in Surrey, England in 1936. Between then and 1954, they immigrated out to Western Australia. I have them on the Electoral Rolls from 1954 - 1980. I believe, from what other family members have given me, that they had two children - Gerard Michael & Patricia Issacs. Not sure if either are living.

I cannot find their passage out to Australia, nor any deaths for either.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Annie

You can search for recent obits here http://www.westannouncements.com.au/obituaries/thewest-au/

They show you first 30? words free and you can pay $4.95 to see the rest.  In the children's case they seen to be funeral notices rather than death notices.

My god...what such quick replies, but I'm grateful for each and every one of them. @Rosball - I found the sons obit on West Announcements as well as the names of his family members and grandchildren  :) So that's given me a new lead. I had the year of 1986 for Catherine's death, but that's helped alot. I think their daughter, Patricia is still alive as it says "brother of Patricia" on the announcement.

But thank you Rosball...its got me a little bit further than I was  :D

Pleasure Annie  :)

How did I miss that death notice ?- welll it's getting late here  :(

And yes that seems to be the wrong Patricia F Ward death judging by her death notice (which I also missed  :( )

cheers,
   Ros

adding : and if parents married in 1936 then 1950 is rather early  ??? for their daughter to be marrying so I have gone totally astray there  :(

Hi Rosball...

I've found an S. Isaacs on the white pages in WA, which is the only one there and that could be Gerard's son - but I can't be sure without calling, and calling from Ireland isn't an option as too expensive, lol

Well done Annie :)

I think a letter in contacting possible relatives is a gentler way to approach them.  It gives them a chance to absorb who/why you are contacting them.

Yes it is fantastic isn't it macberry  :)

I could ring them for you Annie but I'm a bit of a coward and it may sound like one of those scams  ;D.

By the way the WA State Library have a research service where you can ask for info (free) and they reply by e-mail within 5 days.  So you could give them the death dates for Roy and Catherine and ask them to look up the death notices.  This may give more clues to Patricia.

adding : are you looking for Oz relatives macberry? We're a friendly lot and usually more accurate (when our laptops and grey cells are behaving).  Just start a new topic ...  :)

Mr R ISAACS born c1912; Mrs C ISAACS born c1910; Mr G ISAACS born c1938 and  Miss P ISAACS born c*departed the UK in 1953 for Fremantle, WA.  I no longer subscribe to the website that has the passenger list.  Perhaps someone else can find the details.
