Title: Burial records - Gristhorpe & Scarborough
Post by: RipleyAnne on Wednesday 09 January 13 03:01 GMT (UK)
Hi,
I am trying to locate burial records for some of my ancestors before I travel to the area from Australia later this year.  I am hoping someone may be able to help me locate the cemetery/ cemeteries involved.  The people and details are:

William JOHNSON d. 23rd December 1867 in Scarborough.  At the time he was living at 6 Tollergate

Harriet JOHNSON d. 26th June 1881 in Gristhorpe

Harriet BARKER d. 4th October 1890 in Gristhorpe

I have all 3 death certificates but no mention of burials/ cemeteries are made.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank-you.

Hi,

The chances are they have been buried in the Dean Road/ Manor Road cemetery.
Here is a link to their site, if you give them a ring or email, they can give you the plot numbers.
I could pop to the cemetery to take some pictures for you.
Good Luck

Forgot to say, there is only 1 church in Gristhorpe. St Thomas's
Here is the details for the vicar.

I'd ask the scarborough crem first, just in case they did get buried at scarborough.
