Title: Esau Clarke -1783
Post by: Batty on Thursday 02 June 05 20:55 BST (UK)
Hi, I have found Esau Clarke listed on the Dublin Directory 1783 as a French Horn maker at 23 Henry Street.  Does anyone have any information about his family and descendants.  I am hoping that he "belongs" to my William Armstrong Clarke who was born circa 1806 in Ireland but went to England, married and is first listed on the 1841 census as a trumpet maker.  If anyone can help I would be most grateful.

Hello Batty,

What denomination was Esau Clarke?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.
