Again this is coming up and I wish there would be an offer other than 2 tickets for one
As my wife is not keen, and I don't want to pay £25, don't think I will go

Single tickets are £15 from their website, if that helps.

Well, yes, but that also applies to other ticket options, such as the £25 "Two for One" quoted.
Annoying though the tranaction fee is, I was more flagging up that the "Two for One (for £25)" offer is not quite that, when you can get "One for £15", which seems to be standard, rather than an offer.
"Two for One" alludes to Half Price, when in fact paying £25 for a £30 product is not that.
-
Another offer for cheap tickets
http://www.ancestry.co.uk/cs/uk/who-do-you-think-you-are-live-2013
This would be £15 including the transaction fee. :)

I will be going on my own on two days. ( Sat and Sun) I am not impressed either with the ticket "offers" nor the organising of the bookings for workshops , all seems a bit hit and miss. I have reserved 2 workshops but not over impressed. Why not a 2 day ticket? I am sure I can't be the only one going for 2 days!
As I live in Yorkshire, by the time I have factored in my travel and hotel it gets a bit expensive, even though I have taken advantage of early booking discounts etc good job spouse is understanding!
I have planned a very "long weekend trip" Thursday to Tuesday so I can go to LMA and TNA whilst there, then a meeting with daughter and a theatre trip.... so i I will be shattered by the time I get home....

Details for 2 day tickets here

agreed, though, that there aren't any major 'savings' being announced yet

Hi All
I have often wondered why this show has to be based in London EVERY year. Why can't it be on a rolling rota - For example: 1 year London, next Birmingham, next Manchester, Scotland then back to London again. You get the idea. I think far more people who have never been would get the opportunity to visit the show and perhaps some new exhibitors and lecturers.
I am trying to arrange to go this year but it is always so difficult (and expensive) to organise. I have been checking out some of the exhibitors and speakers for this year - a lot seem to be our American cousins why is that? They are not speaking on American topics. ???
-
We're going to be there this year!
We've got a stand at the 'WDYTYA-Live 2013 ' to say how brilliant and generous with their time all the RootsChatters are!
It would be really brilliant if you introduce yourself to us, so we can say hello and have a good natter!

Will def. be stopping by the Rootschat stand! You should have a big sign in sheet or something then we can see who has called by. Over the years there are always chatters I look out for on the boards who make interesting comments or have the same interests as myself and it would be great to see if some of them have made it to the show.
-
Will be calling by. How about some I am a rootschatter sticker, so we can recognise others around the exhibition. Might be nice for (particularly) lone visitors to have like minded person to chat to over a coffee
-
Hi
That sounds a great idea - especially since I shall be one of those 'lone' visitors!
-
Yes could put rootschatter Stonechat on the badge
-
It needn't be anything fancy or expensive- an Avery label with the RC logo and space to write your name. Do it in monochrome to save costs.
-
I am sure I have some avery stickers left and can print some off ;D
-
Or something like this ??
RootsChat-logo + your avatar + your RootsChat username
or:
RootsChat-logo + your RootsChat username
I cobbled these up using IrfanView and Paint but there are better tools around.
Bob
Ps. empty badge added for you to add your own name :)
-
OOoooh you are clever Bob, love the one with your avatar on ;D
-
Thanks Sarah :)
I was at a Glamorgan FH Fair a few years ago and 'SS from the Rhondda' said "Hello" to me.
He said he had recognised the avatar first !! ;D
I think at a distance, the avatar will probably get recognised "faster" than the text,
so having both is a good idea.

Those look great Bob, those of us without an Atavar need to get working on uploading one. Sure I have one of Rufus somewhere I can add if I can work out how to do it. If all else fails, read the instructions!!
-
Right Bob,
sorted the atavar ok now need to try and edit the blank badge...
Pushing the boundaries of my IT skills here, good job OH around to help!
-
I'll have a go a printing one off too.
I'm going on Saturday with hubby and 1 year old. We have a nice red pushchair and I think Emily will be bringing Noddy along too!
Really looking forward to meeting some other Rootschatters and also seeing if there's anything different to previous years. We didn't go last year as it was on the weekend that Emily was due to be born, but, she turned up a couple of weeks later!
-
I will be there on Friday
(Hoping it will be less busy than the weekend)
Still hope to see rootschatters
-
I shall be there on Friday and Saturday and hope to see lots of Rootschatters.
I have a long list of stands to visit and Rootschat is near the top! :)

We've been to see the very impressive Rootschat stand at Olympia today and had a good chat with Trystan. They looked like they had a good number of visitors showing interest and hope that they get some new members signing up as a result of their hard work.

Just got back from a busy day on the stand.
It was lovely to meet some of the regulars here but also a lot of people who knew about Rootschat but hadn't joined yet. We're looking forward to them starting their topics.
And the frequently recurring comment we all got was that everyone here is friendly and helpful (thanks to you all).

See you tomorrow, had a good day at TNA today

It was great to meet Sarah & Trystan at the Rootschat stand today.
It was a good show and Tony Robinson even commented on how cute my 1 year old was! Although I think Emily did make sure that everyone knew she was there! She already has her family tree on her bedroom wall.
Thanks again for the free ticket!

I would just like to thank Trystan and Sarah for their hospitality today at Olympia. I would also like to thank Pol for her kindness.
You are doing a great job and long may it continue. I had a great time and it was lovely to meet you at last.
Keep up the good work

Back home in warm Yorkshire today after freezing for two days down in London for WDYTYA.
Glad to say my mental picture of Sarah & Trystan has not been destroyed by meeting them in person.
Rootschat couldn't be in better hands.
I managed to have a good chat to both Sarah and Trystan during the day and look forward to seeing them at York fair at the end of June.
Cheers
Guy

Was a great event all round, and pleased to hear Sarah & Trystan coming to York. How about a york tweet up?

Hi All,
Spent 3 days at this event in London, had a great time and met the guys from Roots Chat and what nice people. Big well done for the great stand that was put together, and great to meet the people that started this off. :@)
-
Hi all
It was a great pleasure to meet Sarah and Poll on Saturday! I really enjoyed a number of the talks especially the iPad for genealogy and Richard the III. The highlight of course was the RC stand. :)
-
Had a great time at WDYTYA? Live. It was lovely to visit the Rootschat stand for a chat, and I also met a few of the people I follow on Twitter. This was my first visit, and I'm already saving my pennies for next year!
:)

I was blessed to meet Trystan and Sarah in 2007 during my all too brief trip to the UK
One couldn't ask for a blessing more bountiful than the kindness and the acceptance of my oddness than they showed me.
