Am looking for a birth record of Beryl Beatrice Maude Brown-Constable born in January 1925. I think her parents were Wilfred Neville Brown-Constable and Winifred Sandbrook. Parents were married in Bombay in 1922 and passenger lists show Winifred Sandbrook coming back to London in the same year to an address in Sydenham. She served as a staff sister with Queen Alexandra's Imperial Nursing Reserve
Many thanks

If I have this right, Winifred Sandbrook, age 28, travelled on board the SS Mantua.
She travelled from Bombay to Plymouth in 1922, and was a Sister (according to the passenger log).
Did she then return to Bombay to get married, the same year?

Winifred arrived in the UK from Bombay on 19 May 1922.
Can't see her going abroad again though- not later in 1922 or any other time?
She and Beryl appear on the electoral rolls at 14 Dehar Crescent West Hendon from 1946-48.
Winifred died in Maldon Essex in March 1/4 of 1964.

There is a birth announcement in The Times Monday, Aug 06, 1923; pg. 1; Issue 43412
Brown Constable - on or about the 30th July at Bombay to Winifred wife of Wilfred N Brown-Constable, a son. No sign of one for a daughter though.

Beryl married a Cecil James and her death gives a DOB as 9th Jan 1925.

Thanks for the info. Winifred Sandbrook married in Bombay on April 4th 1922 and came back to England the same year. Information in her brother's will states there may have been a son possibly called Peter but it wasn't confirmed. Beryl James was granted probate in Winifred's will so I'm presuming it was her daughter, it's all a bit of a mystery. Beryl James died in 2004. Where can I access the announcement in The Times for August 6th 1923? Have just found a record of electors in 1948 of Winifred, Beryl, Peter B and Mavis J Brown-Constable all living at 14 Dehar Crescent Hendon
Thanks

mavis j brown-constable is on a passenger list with date of birth 2 sep 1925 so she can't be another sibling if beryl was born 9 jan 1925 can she? :-\
she is with children born 1946 and 1948 all single but occupation housewife. this was in 1958.
maybe she was the wife of peter.

Seems a bit strange, 5 or 6 weeks after a wedding, to travel back to England under her maiden name - and on her own at that?
The Ship Passenger List from 1922 has her down as not accompanied by husband.

peter basil clair brown-constable died 1 mar 1951 at sea.
mavis joan was his widow.

Where can I access the announcement in The Times for August 6th 1923?
I access it with my library card through my online county library service :) A lot of the English libraries have this service.

Winifred Sandbrook was a sister in Queen Alexandra's Nursing Corps and according to her records was posted to India where she met and married Neville Brown - Constable. Maybe she came back before him but someone else mentioned a birth in 1923 in India. It's all a bit mysterious! I think Mavis Brown-Constable is her daughter-in-law, I can't find a marriage for her either so could have been overseas, the Brown-Constable's were a military family. Mavis is listed as single in the incoming passenger lists which could mean she was widowed or divorced.
Thanks for all your help! And thanks Rosie and millipede have just picked up the post and have found a marriage record but still no birth record for Beryl!
