Hello,

where might Elsie have been born/lived/married?

Do you have an approximate year for the marriage?

regards
heywood

Hi

Have you got any idea where she was born - at a quick glance I can see at least 15 Elsie Greens in the 1901 census with a mother Mary Ann. Any more clues such as siblings?

Hi

There is no Elsie King death in 1986 with a birthyear 1898.  Also - all Elsie King deaths in 1986 have a middle christian name

Where did Elsie die

Hiya Angel
was your grandmother Elsie Green or Elspeth Green ....do you have her baptism ?
what town was she born in ?
allan
ADDED - OK ...the Elspeth Green b 1898 does not have Mary Ann as mother so we can forget that .

Elsie Green baptised 17th august 1898 at Oldbury ,Worcs - parents Edward Green and Mary Ann
this is on familysearch.org - the only one showing in 1898 .....is this her ? ....was she born in Worcestershire ?

The only possible marriage I can find is

Apr/May/Jun 1922
Doncaster  9c 780

Elsie L Green to Edward King

Is that looking like a possibility?
Where / when were their children born?

This is the only birth that I can find that fits with the marriage that lizdb has found:

Elsie Louisa Green,  Jun q, 1898, Mansfield, 7b, 62

Only death:

Elsie Louisa King,  July 1987,  Liverpool, 36, 592. 787
(date of birth given as 3 June 1904)

So the Doncaster marriage with Elsie's middle initial 'L' is looking good then!

Next step then will be to get that marriage cert and see what clues it gives about Edward - age, fathers name and occupation, witnesses etc.

When did Edward die? His age at death will help with finding his birth too.

Looks like her remarriage to Slack was in 1964

So the details (birth and census) that Brevitas found earlier are looking good!

Best to get the marriage cert to confirm her father, to be sure it is the right family.

I cant see a death for Edward King in Doncaster at the right time. I see he married as plain Edward King - does he give a middle name on your mum's birth cert?
Where did the suggestion he was William Edward come from?

In the Probate Indexes there is an entry for a William King, died 9 Feb 1960 of 11 Woodfield Rd, Doncaster (so not the address you have) Admon with will to Florence Whitfield (wife of Frederick George Whitfield)

this may be a red herring - do you know if the daughter Flossie was actually a Florence and if so did she marry a Whitfield?

I think the 1960 death could be a red herring. There are two earlier deaths in 1955 and 1959.

So - that is this death then, that we think is him?

Jul/Aug/Sep 1959
Don Valley ref 2b 352

William E King
Age 72

That puts his birth around 1887

So, when you get the marriage cert to find his fathers name and occupation you might be able to get him on 1891/1901 censuses
