I am looking for the parents of Stanley, he was born 1909 in Berkshire and married to Mary E Lawrence in 1932 in Reading. He died 1972 in Wycombe. The pair had 5 children. Other than that i have no other information and finding any is proving to be difficult. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

If you cannot locate him on the 1911 census then purchasing his birth certificate should help

Hi
A free search in Ancestry shows that he is mentioned on a (2) Family trees (Holland) unless that is your tree, there appears to be info to be had.

Hi. i have more questions about Stanley and really need some advice. I have since gotten hold of his birth cert and have found that father is unknown and his mothers name is Ellen Pocock who was a mothers help. the problem that i find now is that i cant locate Stanley on the 1911 census nor can i find Ellen living with a Stanley. Now after speaking to my grandparents my grandmother seems to think that Ellen's surname was Cox, so she must have married after Stanleys Birth. I have found a marriage for a Ellen Pocock in the Reading area to a William H Cox. My grandmother thought Stanleys Dad was called Harry. where do i go from here? this is becoming more frustrating by the minute! How can i be sure this is the correct Marriage or even find a birth date for Ellen?
Thanks in advance :)

Hi, I have found a Stanley Rowland Pocock son of Harry and Nellie Pocock of 47 Belmont Road, Reading, bootmaker, baptised at St Mark, Reading on 8 June 1910. The entry states that he was born on the 4 September 1910 but I think this should read 1909.
I cannot find number 47 Belmont Road on the 1911 Census.

This Ellen Pocock may be worth a look. She may be the one in 1911 age 27.
Stanley Rowland may be with his grandparents or boarding.

Thanks Berkslass, the birth date given on that Baptism matched the birth date of my Stanley Rowland, but the parents do not? His birth cert shows a Ellen Pocock rather than a Nellie and no fathers name.
I may check the census for this Harry and Nellie maybe they have a daughter Ellen? a place to look! finally :)
crisane i shall check out that census record so thank you.
Stanleys Birth cert also gives a residence of birth 33 Hosier Street any look ups on that address would be greatly appreicated :)

I know it is expensive buying certificates but it may be worth your while to buy this one. It will give this Ellen's maiden name and the middle initial of H for William sounds hopeful.
Also do you have Stanley Rowland's marriage certificate? He just may have put a stepfather's name down as his Dad. Desperation is setting in. :)

Think I've found Ellen...
seeing the bootmaker link, I went through the 1914 Trade directory and found only one Pocock bootmaker. Frederick Pocock.
Checking back on the censuses.... he has a daughter named Ellen Matilda who was born 1889 Westminster. Right age.
Ellen M Pocock married William R Cox 1916
Ellen M Cox death in 1965 is registered in Wycombe where Stanley moved to....
Still not sure where they were hiding Stanley in 1911 but he could have been nursed out or something.

just for ref... Ellen is down as Nellie in 1901

It was quite usual for girls who were baptised Ellen to be called Nellie. It was the usual familiar name of that period.
