Hi, I am looking for any information (would ideally like resource links to photos) on an old public house in Weston village (near Welford, Newbury).
It was called the Cricketers Arms. I have looked on the dead pubs website but this the only information I have found.
Thank you

Haven't got any pictures - sorry. But there's a fair chance that it is still standing as a private house.
It is shown on the 1899 map at www.old-maps.co.uk (coord: 439826, 173834)
It could be the house now enlarged and called Weston House: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=welford&ie=UTF-8&ei=MYXhUND7N8ix0QX1uoGwAg&ved=0CAsQ_AUoAA
Here are landlords from directories & censuses. It was a beerhouse/shop, probably never had a full licence - the then landlord gave up selling booze in the 1950s. I can't find anything pre-1869 not even in an 1868 directory - which is odd as the Beer Act was repealed that year and it became difficult to open new beerhouses. Perhaps William Prince took a last minute opportunity to licence his house/shop before the act was repealed.
