Title: Finding a Death
Post by: janeeliza999 on Saturday 29 December 12 12:37 GMT (UK)
Hi. I'm having no luck tracing my Gt Grandmothers death.

She was born Charlotte Keighley in 1874 Warrington.
Married Ralph Slater in 1895 Warrington.
I've tried combinations and typos and come up with nothing!
Any help would be appreciated.

When and where was the last time you found her alive, that will help narrow it down?

It doesn't look as if the death took place in Warrington, as the only one of a Charlotte Slater is in 1905 but is a one year old child. Could she have remarried?

Hi
1911 Census has her down as Mrs Slater, no 1st name, but with husband Ralph and children

Hi. Just had another good look and found Charlotte had twin boys William and John in Warrington Sep 1912.

Births Sep 1912   (>99%)
Slater    John            Keighley    Warrington
Slater    William    Keighley    Warrington

Maybe died shortly afterwards but why in Chorlton? Was there a special hospital ?

More questions than answers!

Hi. Thanks for your reply.
Would this have been normal practice to have taken her there?
One of the twins died at birth in Warrington.

Could be the other way round. I had a family member and wife that moved to Chorlton (1851) but birthed their children in Warrington, their home town. Tilley street seems to figure prominately in my case, I wonder if there may have been a reputable midwife there. Perhaps your Charlotte did the same.

Hi. My family were at Gaskell St, where Sainsburys petrol station now is, in 1911.
Tilley St is not far from there.
I dont think they moved but never say never !
Looks like a case of getting a few certificates to see where they were.
Many thanks
Jane

There are deaths for a Charlotte in 1905 and Ralph in 1907. Do you think that these could be 2 of the 4 children that died before 1911

Heather

added: Charlotte born 1904 died 1905 Ralph born 1906 died 1907
