I am trying to decipher the surname of 'Elizabeth', first box in the top left hand corner, 5th line down, any ideas?
Thank you in advance, Chloe

Hi Chloe :)
Looks like "Service" ???
Prue

I agree with Prue, it looks like 'Service'
Edward

I thought that too! Can't be right though, can it :-\ ?!?

I've never heard of the name, myself, but a quick search of Familysearch.org for Elizabeth SERVICE born in Ireland throws up plenty of hits, most if not all in the North (Belfast, Antrim etc.).

Can't be right though, can it?
'Service' looks fine to me too.
Just tried the surname in the 1841 census, and there are a signicant number of entries
with a bias towards Scotland.
