Title: Durham Light Infantry Headstones/Memorial Hull Northern Cemetery
Post by: verrieres on Friday 28 December 12 22:03 GMT (UK)
Hello,
I`m wondering if anyone can help with photographs of the following two Durham Light Infantry Headstones/Memorial Screen

The first is a Headstone photograph of
4452463 PTE RONALD TATE who died on the 2nd September 1945 he was aged 23.His grave can be found at Compt. 109. Grave 18. It is a standard CWGC white headstone and not a family memorial stone if it helps?

The second is a commemoration on the Screen Wall within the cemetery it refers to
14219902 PTE HARRY TREVOR MATHER who died on the 30th February 1944
he was just 19.Harry is actually buried in Hull General Cemetery but according to the CWGC this grave was not maintainable. If anyone knows where his original grave is then an additional photograph would be greatly appreciated.

All photographs are added to my website where relatives can download them free of charge the ones I have todate can be found at
http://durhamlightinfantry.webs.com/theirgunsnowsilent.htm
The red links are photographs already online.
Thanks for looking
Best Wishes

Jim

Hi
If you contact the Bereavement Services at Chanterlands Ave, Hull they may well be able to
help you find the 2nd grave and maybe know of someone that photographs headstones.

Hi Jim
I don’t know if you are still looking for these photographs, I realise that the original post was from a while back. I managed to photograph the ones in the Northern Cemetery and will look in the General Cemetery at some point this week. I have found a map showing all the war graves there. It’s quite overgrown in parts, so I’m not sure what it will be like.
Best wishes
