We've had problems getting the "Chat" working, but we've got it set up now.
It's quite basic looking, and it won't have some of the features of the old one.
The thing it does have in its favour is that it doesn't use "Flash" so we shouldn't have problems of it booting out people with slower connection, slower computers, or people with out of date versions of flash.
We will be working on the look of the Chat over the coming weeks, so please bear with us.

Erm....another 'oops moment' methinks (more hob nobs needed) - red message below login says 'you can't access the chat' :-\

You can't access the chat.
The message is there before even any attempt to log in.

Right, I think that's done it. It should (fingers crossed) work now.
There is a number next to "Chat" too, that shows how many people are in there.

Trystan - I put this on another thread somewhere. Being nosey I went into the Chatroom to see who the 11 people were who were already in there, then I couldn't get out again. I had to close down Roots and then open it up again. I'm sure there must be some way of getting back to the normal boards but I couldn't work it out. Not that I'll need them, I'm not a Chatroom sort of person. :-[ Oops, it looks as though embarrassed is not working. I don't have a Smiley for it just the word between the smiley for "Tongue" and "Lips sealed".

Lizzie, there is no need to repeat your postings really, we are listening to you - bless you.
There are loads of jobs I'm trying to get through as quickly as I can. The current Chat is rough round the edges, and that one of the rough edges.
Hopefully I can fix this quite soon, and I'll keep you posted. :)

I just thought maybe I'd posted in the wrong place before and as this topic was specifically about the Chatroom, I just stuck a line in here. I don't know how you manage to keep up with reading all the topics, I'm exhausted and I'm not doing anything, just reading. :D :D By the way, I'm not a chatter, so I'll leave you and the Chatters to sort things out.

No, I read each and every one of the postings to do with the site. In some cases they are utterly demoralising and very hurtful, but I still read them, make a note and move on. Hopefully I've managed to sort out a lot of the issues despite the way some people have repeatedly put their points across.

Two things:
First, sorry to the Chatters who tried to welcome me and didn't get a reply when I inadvertantly entered the chatroom by pressing the wrong button (it was meant to be 'My Messages', the button next door). You've proved yourselves to be very kind people.
Secondly, to Trystan - many many thanks for all you do, most people appreciate it enormously. I've put off commenting on the changes until the shock of change wears off (just a small shock though). I'm already beginning to forget how the old site looked and do find the site runs much quicker.

this is a bit off topic ... some of us might not like everything to do with the new look, but we truly appreciate all your hard work.
I think sometimes, non-techies don't realise how much work can go into solving what looks like a tiny glitch!
