megg,

There was no Frater family in Wooler area on Census 1841.

The Frater family found by Christina on C1841 were living in East Jarrow ( Census ref 298/1 13-20) within County Durham.

All, with the exception of John junior, were " not born in this(Co Durham) county"

Going by info from censuses, the family left the county of Northumberland sometime between 1834 and 1839 ( and never went back)
--------------------------------------------------------------
John's wife has been transcribed by modern transcribers as
"Phellis", but the C1841 enumerator clearly entered "Phillis" !
(complete with two dots above the two letters "i")

I have some FRATERs starting with:

Matthew LEE = Mary FRATER, 20 Nov 1794, Newburn

I think Mary was born in Eglingham, 4 Sep 1768 (one of 7 children of Richard FRATER & Barbara STROTHER).

I doubt this is immediately useful, but Eglingham isn't that far from Wooler
