Hi Carol,Bill,japeflakes,Tommy & restorer45
Thank you for all of your repairs, restores and various backgrounds  :) very much appreciated.
No convinced about the changes on here but it will be a tragedy if we lose any of our wonderful restorers as a result.
Carol, yes looks like he was told to "stand up straight and be still" and someone forgot to say cheese  ;D

Can i suggest you don't change the background because you then take the subject out of his context. The brick wall places the person in a particular place at a particular time. The brick wall has been recently repointed and if it is a public building there may be records that allow quite precise dating.
Changing the background doesn't improve the picture, it destroys it and turns it into a fantasy, making it no longer an historical document.

Pat requested a background change and that's her choice...I like Restorer's artistic interpretation 8)

Hi Scot2Eng
I appreciate what you are saying but I do have the origional and I knew some restores would keep it in context but I also think this forum is for those who want to express themselves, practice or just have some fun  :) I did suggest some might like to try a background change in my header.
I have posted previous images where I have specified just repair/restoration while staying true to the origional and that has always been respected.

Pat
