Title: Cicero Pope Frome

Cicero Pope's grave is in Holy Trinity Church Frome. It gives his date of death as Dec 1874. I wuold like to obtain his death cert but cannot find any reference to registration of his death. I have searched 1837.com etc. I know he had travelled to Ireland in 1871 so perhaps he died there. Has anyone any ideas where else to look?Thanks Thelma

Have you tried the Frome local history website - www.gomezsmart.free-online.co.uk ? There is a lot of information there. A search for Pope threw up 70 entries.
There is also a Yahoo group for Frome local history with a message board.
I have found people there very helpful and have got a lot of help through the group.

Many thanks. That has taken 7 years to get a reply! Just shows you should never give up. I still do not know whether he is rlated to my husband's Popes. They were all from Frome so I am sure he is linked in somewhere. I wonder if he is Edwin Popes brother? Do you have any more information about him?

Strangely the Popes have only made an apppearance in my tree this week and I have not discovered Joseph as yet but as I am only pottering around at the moment I will concentrate on the popes for a couple of hours and see what comes up. Will let you know the outcome
