can any one help ... looking for my grandfathers ww1 records his name francis henry hardy born 1898 11 tenter buildings newark notts or any info would good kind regards neil..

Hi, Neil: I see no-one has replied to you, most unusual. I'll do what I can but first: do you have any idea about service (Army, Navy), regiment/ship, date of enlistment (he was only 16 when war broke out), etc. That way we can maybe start a little further in to the process!

Got a baptism for you just in case you don't already have it.
13-10-1898 Francis Hardy son of Timothy- mother not listed. abode 7 Tenter Bldgs. Newark St Leonards.
Marriage Newark, St Mary Magdalene
27-6-1887 Timothy Hardy and Mary Ann Brown.
Probably why no one replied to this....No Army records to be found.

Larkspur is right - no records to be found. My guess is that they were among those totally destroyed in WWII. If you know the regiment/ship, you may be able to find some records through that resource - they are usually most helpful. However, aside from that, I think it's a lost cause - sorry!
