Title: Bishops Transcripts

I am trying to find the were the Bishops Transcripts are held for St James Westminster London.
 I know they are not at the Westminster Archives and the Parish Registers which are held there are faded to the point of being illegible for the dates that I want being Feb 1760 to Aug. 1761 inc
The name I am looking for is Hannam hopefully a Vincent, but the location of the Transcripts would be a big help.

Have you contacted the Westminster Archives and asked where they are deposited?

                      I have been in touch with the Westminster Archives. They seem unsure where they are, possibly LMA or Lambeth palace Library I was hoping someone may have used them recently and know for certain where they are.

mc8   Update, I got a reply from CERC their opinion is that they should be with the LMA, as the LMA say that they do not have them I can only assume that they are lost  unless someone knows better.

Ancestry claim to have all LMA records,worth a look there.

                             I have checked Ancestry several times with no success for the period that I am after ( Feb 1760 to Aug 1761 no images) they are probably like FindMyPast when I contacted them about missing portions they replied " It should be considered as work in progress" which I read as what they advertise is not what they actually have.

According to the LMA London Generations catalogue, only the BT's from 1800 onwards are at the LMA, nothing earlier, so they don't come under the 'work in process' banner.

There will always be some confusion as to where the records have been deposited for London & Middlesex.

LMA holds records of over 700 Anglican churches in the London and Middlesex areas. The types of records held vary from parish to parish with some parishes only depositing registers of baptisms, marriage and burials. Other parishes however, have deposited a great deal more and the types of records include vestry minutes, churchwarden accounts, parish poor rate and early workhouse material, parish magazines, plans, photographs and other ephemera.
 
For those interested in parish records, researchers should be aware that for certain areas of London, the LMA will not be the likely place records would be deposited. For those interested in the parish registers of the ancient City of London within the walls, these will be found at the Guildhall Library. Similarly churches within the ancient city of Westminster will deposit their records at the City of Westminster Archives. This will include parishes such as Saint Martin in the Fields, Saint James Piccadilly, Saint Clement Danes and Saint George Hanover Square. The final areas that would not deposit their records at the LMA are the modern London Boroughs that prior to the formation of the Greater London Council in 1964 would have been part of the former counties of Essex, Kent and Surrey. For each of these areas researchers should consult either their local borough archive or the respective ancient county record office.

So the paris registers for Westminster go to the City of Westminster Archives, but the BT's belong to the Diocese of London and go to the LMA.

                           The "Work in progress"  I referred to was at FindMyPast not the LMA   Having spoken to the LMA, Westminster Archives and the Lambeth Palace Library Archive I have found them nothing but helpful and friendly.

 The parish registers for St James Piccadilly are at the Westminster Archive but the ones that I wanted are faded to the point of being illegible and no one seems to know where the B/T's for the years that I want are ( Feb 1760 to Aug 1761 inc). I have not tried the Guild Hall yet I will give them a try in the morning.

Interested in your search for Vincent Hannam b c1760-61. Is this the Vincent Hannam who marries Philadelphia Jacob(s) in 1787?

                     You are correct the Vincent that I was looking for at the time  was the one that married Philadelphia Jacob on 3rd Sept 1787 at St James the Less, Thorndike Street, Middlesex.
The only Vincent Hannam that can close to his DOB was a Vincent Hanham b 1761 Bap 20 Nov 1761 at Mere in Wiltshire which I have not pursued.
