Hi
Can you give us some more information please? Where did this family move from? What names in particular where you searching for? How old where these people when they moved? Is it possible that any of them are still living, in which case we cannot post any information on those people here on this board.
Cheers

My family is part of the Redmonds in Utah. Anthony L. Redmond was my grandmother's (Patricia Ann Redmond Silcox) father. Any information on him, or his family would be greatly appreciated. We have his parents (Patrick Redmond and Isabella Daley) but not much about them. Also we have little information about his wife Mae P. McCann. Any information about her family would be awesome! :) :) Thanks In Advance!

Thank you for the quick and thorough reply! It is fantastic and helpful. Margaret Whitten was Mae McCann (my great grandmother's) aunt. Her name was changed to Whitten for passage. Because of this,(as your records show) Mae is often listed as daughter to Harry and Margaret Whitten. I do not know who her parents were. I know her mother died when she was young and her father and step mother continued to reside in England.
-
You're very welcome. Possibly have some photographs taken when on holiday in the area some years ago - that might relate to some of the address mentioned. Will have to dig them out and take a look sometime.
May McCann was born 1910 in Frizington Cumberland. She was living in the household of her grandfather John Byrne. John Byrne was born Wicklow Ireland 1847 - Lived at 39 Yeathouse Rd Frizington Cumberland. Widowed and a retired miner. Margaret Byrne and her sister Mary Jane also lived in the household. Annie McCann also lived at the address, as did son-in-law Patrick McCann born 1880 Cleator Moor who was married, colliery shiftman (below ground). Also lodging at that address were the two McCann children May aged 1 year and Thomas aged 2 months.
Patrick McCann had married Annie Burns in Whitehaven Cumberland - June 1908 - 10b 1331.
There is a death record for Annie McCann (aged slightly out) - aged 30 years - Whitehaven District - December 1914 - 10b 890
So the daughter of Mae McCann and Anthony Redmond - Patricia (now deceased) could have been named so because her grandfather was Patrick ???

Looking for information on Annie Burns of Cumberland, born in 1884. She was married to Patrick McCann in 1908. She had three children Mae, Thomas, and John before she died in 1914. Mae and Thomas Came to America with their Aunt Margret Whitten in 1918.Their father, Patrick, had remarried. What I am wondering is who he remarried, and who Annie's parents were. Her father's name may have been John Byrne, but I don't know when the spelling of the last name may have changed. ??? ??? If anyone knows any information, I would be so grateful for some leads! Thanks in advance!

I have just come across this thread. From the iniformation given here I assume the John Whitten is Corporal 'Jack' Whitten, who was killed in action during the Second World War in Germany (aged 29)? If this is the same fellow (whose parents were Harry Whitten and Margaret Whitten (nee Burns) then I researched this chap a few years ago as he is commemorated in the Borough of Whitehaven, Cumberland WW2 'Book of Remembrance' and the war memorial of St Joseph's R.C. Church, Frizington.
There were relatives living at Church Lane, Hensingham, Whitehaven which seemed to be why he is remembered in the Whitehaven 'Book of Remembrance'. Oddly, Jack Whitten is not on the R.C. church memorial for Whitehaven, nor on the Arlecdon or Frizington village memorials. In case this is of assistance, this is the link to the main article I posted to the Internet about Jack Whitten and family:
http://2ndww.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/corporal-john-whitten-us-army-1915-1945.html

This is amazing! This man, whom my grandmother called uncle Jack, was her hero. She would have loved to see your article on him. Thank you so much for posting this!

Hi hmtsab75,
I have just read the message about corporal jack Whitten. I haven't been on this web site for a while, so didn't realise all the new information. I will try and get a picture of his name on war memorial for you next time I am up in Whitehaven. Say hi to Cathie and Leslee for me.
