Hmm...not sure it's the right Richard Clark - the one buried on 18 April 1845 is only 3 years old.  He's the son of Alexander, a labourer in Grandholm.  His name may also be spelled 'Ritchard'.

No probs - shame it's not the right one though.  There aren't any other Richard Clark(e)'s indexed as being buried in Aberdeen between 1830 and 1850, but that doesn't mean to say there aren't any - just not a written record.  Frustrating!

Not everyone could afford a headstone.  :(
Have you found out if anyone else is buried in the same lair?

don't understand the term "lair"

A lair is a a plot in a cemetery, usually wide enough for one coffin. Families would buy (the right to be buried in) a particular lair, and the lair book records the names and burial dates of everyone buried in that lair. Sometimes a family would buy two or more adjacent lairs, because the cemetery owners often limit the number of coffins that can be buried in any one lair.

Thanks anne but we have determined that Richard Clarke  is a 3 yr old child - as my Richard would have been 42 approx in 1845 as 38 in 1841 census.  thanks for your help, warm regards chithead :)

Hi, Just wondering if someone in this area of Scotland can get a pic of a headstone in Kirkyards of Caull and Migvie, burial ground: Caull for the Wright family plots-Peter Wright(stone 75) and John Wright(stone 21). Here is the website with the whole family listing. Kindest Regards, Patricia Wright ;)
