Title: parish register worcester
Post by: mead researcher on Monday 03 December 12 11:53 GMT (UK)
Hi there
I am in Australia so access to Parish records is difficult  :-\

On Sunday my grandson was christened wearing the little dress that was the christening dress of my grandfather - Frederick William Henry YOUNG.

While I have the birth details for my grandfather it would be wonderful to also have his christening/baptism record, if available, to include with family history memorabilia regarding the wearing of his dress some 136 years later, so far away in Australia.

My grandfather was born 2 July 1876 when the family was residing at  Hylton Road, St Clements, Worcestershire.
His parents were William YOUNG and Anne nee TAYLOR.

A few years later they had moved to Kidderminster.

If there is anyone who has access to Worcestershire Parish Records and if the above information can be of help in locating such a record, I would be so happy to hear from you.

I realise there are many parishes and sorry I can't narrow down the area.

Fingers crossed......

Hi Barb,

I've had a quick look at the on-line publications of our society BMSGH  http://bmsgh-shop.org.uk/ and can't see anything useful for that period.  Have a go yourself.

I think the best thing to do, if you draw a blank here, and no one is going to The Hive, is to contact them yourself and see about arranging for a researcher to look for you.  http://www.thehiveworcester.org/  probably best starting with C of E churches closest to that address.

Cheers

Mike

Hi Barb

Your grandfather was baptised on 30 July 1876 at St Clements Church Worcester by the Rector F H Richings. Your know that Frederick's parents were William and Annie. He is described as a grocer and the family lived in Hylton Street.

Woo Hoo........!
Thank you so much for that Nemo.
I knew he was born 2 July 1876 and it was St Clements Worcester.

Is there the possibility of accessing the record or is that just wishing on a star...?

I would love to be able to give a copy to our son and his wife as our little 7 1/2 months old grandson has just been christened wearing the dress worn in 1876.

If there is a cost for copying I am happy to pay it.

Once again, thank you.
