Hi Charlie,
The NSW state records office www.records.nsw.gov.au has digitised records of ships arrivals and passenger details including the John Davies in 1855. However the site is not behaving at the moment .. ::) It has been down today and has come back up now yet has broken links. Maybe tomorrow ...?
regards,
Ros

Fingers crossed that this "back door" link will work ..... Scroll down to May 1855 should get you to the ship :) and thus to the passenger list.

Were the parents Robert & Agnes along with their children William, John, Janet, Agnes & James?

You can search the QLD BMD for the family:

There are several researchers who are descendants of the family that have certificates, photos, etc.
Perhaps you would like to contact them.

Yes, the names we gave you and the area they came from are they taken from the passenger list & the records of the immigration board for the John Davies in May 1855.
I gave you the links in my previous reply #8 where you can see a copy of the original passenger list on the QLD Archives which gives the details. Did you read it?
What makes you think that your MURRAY family arrived on the John Davies in May 1855?
Perhaps you should give us the information you do have on them - names, dates, places, parents, etc.

hi merlin, sorry about this but ive been given the wrong information about the family. seemingly they left home in bonyrigg scotland sold all possessions and bought tickets for oz. the boat they were meant to sail on had to come into dock for repairs which was going to take 2 or 3 weeks, so they got a refund and went to america. the trip took 11 weeks and they landed in new orleans on 1st jan 1852. robert and jessie murray had a few kids and had a very good life in america and died in wellsville. if you care to google robert wood murray it is very interesting.
thanks for all
