Hope someone can help me.
I am having trouble tracing my family, Catherell, but unfortunately they changed their name to Catlin and Catterill.
I can't find any info on the 1861 census for Shillington, Beds. My grt grt grandfather George Catherell was born 1845 and sometime after changed it to Catlin. His father was William Catterill.
Can anyone help me.

It's indexed as Catlend
I can't see anything for William though. Do you have the family in 1851? If not I'll have a look.

Sorry, the only info I have William Catterill b: 1821 Pirton, Herts. His son George Catlin b: 1845 Shillington, Beds. George married Jane Cooper in 1866, but I have no other info going back from 1871. It's a complete mystery

There was a burial of James Catrell, infant at Shillington on 6 Mar 1849
There are also a number of member submissions on the IGI for this family (which I normally take with a healthy pinch of salt), indicating that William was buried on 5 Jan 1851, and there is a burial of William Catterell aged 29 on this date at Pirton on the NBI. Whilst this would explain why I can't find William in 1851 I don't understand where Mary and George have gone!
Judging by the member submissions on the IGI the William and Abigail in Pirton in 1851 were William's parents.
OK, panic over. Had another look at Shillington:
