to mysurprise I've found ancestors from plymouth...who went to Newcastle and settled during 1870's. George Grebbell, a printer, is father to Benjamin. Benjamin marries Mary Pearce. He is in Royal Marines at Stonehouse barracks. They have a Mary Jane Elizabeth Pierce Grebbel she marries and moved to Newcastle area.
My question is....any one out there with any conections? also I can't find anything about Benjamins RM history though I know he ended up as a pensioner, dying in marines hospital, Plymouth.

It's taken a while to work this out. Benjamin Robert GREBBELL married Mary PEARCE 5 Jan 1845 at Plymouth St Andrew. Benjamin was in the Royal Marines and his father was George GREBBELL, a Printer.
George GREBBELL married a Mary STONE 10 Oct 1808 at Stoke Damerel. Benjamin Robert GREBBELL was baptised 26 Jan 1819 (born 3 Mar 1818) at Plymouth St Andrew, son of George (Printer) & Mary.
There appear to have been 2 George GREBBELLs who married in 1808.

Hi here's another one:
B R Grebball
Baltic Medal
Service Year: 1845-1855
Location: Crimea
Campaign or Service: Crimean War
Ship: James Watt
He was still a private.
In column for when medal was delivered/sent it says: Ba 123 to Jas Watt 7/4/57
So I think the annotation for the China war may mean that his medal was delivered to The Marine ?? , Plymouth.
?? could possibly be Barracks :-\

thank you to all the replies! :D I'm in recovery from the winter sickness virus, my husband said' do you feel up to having your laptop?' knowing it would be a sign of my real state of recovery...when I saw all the effort you people have gone to for me I was very touched...as a beginner I'm still learning about Roots chat.
I will be following up on all these words of wisdom. :D

Hi Wendy,
My Husband Has Mary Pearce on his tree. Mary was the sister of his 3 x Great grandmother Jane Pearce.
Benjamin and Mary "remarried" , I haven't found a divorce as yet between them.
Can swap notes with you if you wish.
Best wishes

Wendy,
Back in December 1804, there was a fire in a house in Plymouth, in the market place, where a woman called Mrs Grebbell, wife of a printer called Mr. Grebbell died. There was an inquest into her death, scant details I know, no forenames at all.
I have a note of the inquest, and can send it to you if you want by way of a PM, rather online-if you think it's a relative.

Thanks for your reply. I have today received from TNA the attestation papers for BR Grebball. Fascinating, gives description of him and all service. Can give more details if you're interested.

Well...and much time has passed and Certs have been obtained ...Benjamin and his wife seem to have 'agreed' to be 'widowed' as both 'remarried' other people in 1871 and 1874 ...seems I have a bigamist in my tree ;) thanks to all you out there who helped me. :)
