Title: Thompsons in South Wales
Post by: keithyt on Saturday 24 November 12 13:24 GMT (UK)
Hi I have traced ancestors back to George Thompson who lived in Uzmaston in 1861. He is on the census as a "land drainer" He was married to Mary Ann and they had 4 children- Agnes John William and Sarah Anne.
He as born in Amersham Buckinghamshire however Mary Anne was born in llandissillo. I am struggling to piece him together between birth in 1837 and census in 1861 and would pop recite any help. Thanks

There were two George Thompsons born in Amersham in 1837 & 1839, the later has a GRO index in 1840 but the former I think was born before registration began in Q3/1837. So I assume he was the one.

He was baptised 19 July 1837 parents Joseph Henry Thompson & Jane.

His father was the Blacksmith in Amersham, George is with the family in 1841 High Street, Amersham & 1851 Wildon Street, Amersham.

Regards

Colin
