Hello,
I am seeking any information about Alfred Harrison Gambrill (b 1880 Folkestone,Kent). In 1909/1910 he emigrated to Canada with his wife Elsie (b 1883 Elham, Kent) and son Robert Blake Harrison Gambrill (b 1909 Kent).
I would like to know when he emigrated, and the name of the ship. Also, when he died if possible. Any other information about his family would be appreciated. I do know that he was in the Canadian Army during the First World War.
Thankyou.

It appears that the three are buried in Ontario:

Someone posted a write-up from a newspaper clipping about Robert B. Gambrill. He apparently died in 1935. His parents were still alive at the time. He also had a brother and sister (named in the write-up).

Facebook has a Huron County Branch OGS group, one of the members there might be able to help (Exeter, Ontario is in Huron County).

Hello Lisa in California & Nettopsey,
Thankyou for your links, much appreciated. I did have the information from the Canadian Great War Project. Have found some photos on the internet of the 161st Battalion.
I am still seeking details of the trip to Canada and ship's name.

Bingo. :)
The ship was the Grampian. It arrived on Mar 31, 1910, at Halifax. You can see the associated image by going to http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/passenger/index-e.html, entering the search info above, and then click through to page/image 8. You can see Alfred, Elsie, and son Robert listed.
Best,
James
