Hello, can someone please tell me the approximate date this photo was taken?
Any other clues? I can't make out the cap badge.
thanks , Edmund.

Good evening,
In theory this could be any time between1902 when this uniform was first issued and 1938 when it was replaced by the universal battledress.
In practice it is likely to be circa WW1 when most men had there mug shots done in uniform for the family. If it's actually during the war then not between 1916 1918 when the breast pockets had no pleats.
He is royal artillery but I can't tell you more than that.

Thanks very much for that info, it's something to look into.

Good evening,
You could also try putting this on the recognition board as well. The experts on there may be able to date the type of card and background a little closer than I have. Just change the title slightly.

Thanks, will try that .

Yes, Royal Artillery, after WW1 when the lanyard was worn on the left shoulder. Someone with more detailed knowledge should be able to give the date when it was changed to the right.
