Title: Taylor. Marriage
Post by: retiredlancslad on Tuesday 20 November 12 12:13 GMT (UK)
I am looking for James Taylor, who married a Jane ??. Her birth place is variously given as Addingham or Skipton , West Yorkshire. James was from Shuttleworth in Lancashire and was a butcher. They had. Son, George in about 1839. I have Jane  and George in census listings but can't find Jane's maiden name. Many thanks

Hiya Issy,

George born Bury on the 1851 and Edenfield on the 1861.

There is a possible George Taylor born in the sub district of Edenfield in 1838 mothers maiden name Parkinson.

Looks promising, although my Jane gives her birth place in later census as Addingham & Skipton in West Riding of Yorkshire. Should she describe herself as spinster of this parish in Bury Lancs? Suppose she might if she had moved there.

If she lived within the parish, before her marriage, that is what she is quoting not where she was born,
