I am trying to find the marriage of Sherwood Pearson b.1841 Kennington Yorks. I have found him on the 1881 census as married and living in Hartlepool but can't find any record of marriage.

Hi
There are 2 possible marriages on FreeBMD for a Sherwood PEARSON... the first in 1866 Helmsley Yorkshire and the second in 1878 in Hartlepool Durham.
A Sherwood PEARSON appears as a married man on the 1871 and 1881 Census but with no wife or family.
In 1901 there is a Sherwood PEARSON with wife Alice M.
One of the possible brides on the 1878 Marriage Index is Alice Mary STEPHENSON.
Cheers

The Sherwood Pearson and Alice Mary Stephenson in Hartlepool were married in 1878. He was born in Nunnington, Yorks, Kennington is only in the 1881 Census, and none of the others.

In 1881 Alice M. Pearson and Ernest William Pearson were visiting Alice's parents John Stephenson and Alice J. Stephenson in Sheraton RG11; Piece: 4971; Folio: 99; Page: 2
Ernest William Pearson's Birth was registered in the Sep ¼ 1879 - Hartlepool
In the 1891 Census he is transcribed as Pherward Barson, the family is at 2 Alice Street, Stranton.
RG12; Piece: 4066; Folio: 70; Page: 27 (FindMyPast has Pherwood Pearson)

Thanks everyone for your efforts. May be I'm heading in the wrong direction with this Sherwood Pearson (although it seems to be a family name carried down through each generation).
Forward a generation I have a definite lead - Luke Sherwood Pearson b.1867, Nunnington, Yorks. It's his parents I would like to trace.
There is a Luke Pearson b.1867 on 1871 census - a 'border' with his grandmother - Mary Pearson, who is also a 'border' at Middleton Lane, Middleton St George, Durham. They are also on the 1881 census at the same address and now with his g.father Luke Pearson.
On 1851 census I find these Luke and Mary Pearson with Sherwood Pearson b.1841 at Nunnington. This is where I got my original Sherwood from!!
Many thanks, Beca

I would like to find a connection between Sherwood Pearson of Hartlepool and Joseph Pearson, of South Shields. Most of the Pearson's moved from South Shields to Hartlepool. One relative has the middle name of Sherwood so there seems to be a connection somewhere.
