Title: Nelsons - Port Antonio Jamaica
Post by: snazzyK on Saturday 17 November 12 14:59 GMT (UK)
I am desperately trying to locate descendants and ancestors of Charles A nelson b1880.  I know that he had brothers and a sister but I do not know their names.  His parents were John and Jane Nelson.  I gather his brother then to live in America but i have no further information as I do not have a name.  If this matches with a name on your tree I would love for you to get in touch.  Thanks

I guess you have checked with LDS who have extensive pre & post 1880(Civil Registration started) Jamaica records?  Next stop is Jamaican Family Search a small subscription website. Finally try RGD spanish Town the Jamaica Gov record office. Good luck Keith

Two books that might be of interest:

My Ancestor Settled in the British West Indies, by John Titford.  Published by the Society of Genealogists 2011.

Tracing your West Indian Ancestors, by Guy Grannum

This web site has lots of info on Jamaica families: http://jamaicanfamilysearch.com/

There is a zip file to download to see if your surname(s) appear.  If so, a one month subscription is just $9 (USD).

Regards,

Paul
