Hi everyone
I am trying to get some information on my G'Granma & G'Grampa.
John Hutchison was born around 1850 in Co.Down.
Sarah Dempster was born around 1855in Co.Antrim
They were married around 1870 and came to Scotland about 1872, with a son James.
I think John came from Comber district.
Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance

Hugh Dempster Hutcheson born 19 Feb.1881 Cambuslang, Lanarkarkshire, Scotland- parents John Hutcheson & Sarah Dempster
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XTXH-M5Y
Scottish birth certificates show date and place of parents' marriage.

They were apparently married in Comber in 1873.
There is a marriage for a John Hutchinson and Sarah Dempster registered in that year at Newtownards, vol 16 p993.

Hi all
My, that was quick!
Agadowey; Thanks for Hugh, I have all the children born in Scotland, Hugh was one of 7 children born after they arrived from Ulster. The last of these being my Grandfather.
Just for info, John worked as a coal miner in Hallside Colliery, they stayed in what became known as he Tarry Rows in Hallside Village, a despicable and evil place it was too!!!
He left Sarah in 1882, She then went on to have another four children by unknown fathers?
There is a very interesting caveat on three of the four birth certificates, which states;
Sarah Hutchison wife of John Hutchison. Declares for the purposes of this record, that John Hutchison is not the father of this child, further that she has had no personal relationship with him since they ceased to live together around 20th March 1882.
My Grandfather does not have this, just illegitimate? She had a lodger at this time, one Albert McLuskey from Ayrshire, could he be my G'Grandad? He died in the Ayr Asylum in 1903.
Gaffy;
This is just what I need! I plan to come over to C.Down quite soon and this gives me a genuine place to start, so thank you very much!
I will let you know how this all pans out, thanks again for your invaluable help.

Newtownards is the registration district but may not be where the marriage took place.
Unfortunately Irish certificates do not give the same details as Scottish ones.
Have a look at Introduction to Irish Records (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,442233.0.html) and My Ancestor came from Ireland - where do I start? (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,498742.0.html).
