I am researching the History of my G G G Grandmother Winnifred Heffernan or Hefferman. She was a Bounty immigrant to Australia. in 1841 aboard the "Neptune".She was 20 and from Tipperary according to the ships records. So I put her birth at 1821. I am trying to find out information about her and her family in Ireland but have had no luck. It has taken about 2 years to finally come up with her name so this has been a long journey. If anyone can help I would really appreciate this. Thanks Hereford

Unless you have the place she came from in Tipperary it is very difficult as civil reg wasnt introduced until 1864 in Ireland. All you could hope for is a baptism but you need the place she came from.
There is a ship record for a Mary Heffernan born 1822 in Cahir Co Tipperary, parents names Patrick Heffernan & Kitty Hall . She arrived in NSW 1839 on ship "China".
Could it be a possibility she may be related to Winifred? :)

Hereford,
it should mention her parents name on the passengers list or arrival details.
maybe even a placename in tipperary.
With those you would have a better chance of finding the right person.

This is a Bounty Immigration shipping manifest which has only her name, age,Religion, and county from plus profession.Money was paid to get her plus others out to Australia.I have seen the manifest and that is all the info that I can see on it

Hereford,
Have you a death certificate for her, it might name her parents.
Without the parents it would be very difficult to identify the correct Winefred Heffernan.
that is all I can think off.
online only some parish records covering the 1820s will be searchable. the real south of the county around Cahir, Clogheen, Clonmel and the north of the County, no online database will give the Cashel and Emly diocese parish records which covers a large part of the county.
and some parish records will not go back to 1820 so you need the parents names to pinpoint where she was from.

Not sure if there is any connection but my Heffernan ancestors came from Clonmel Co Tipperary Ireland.
Thomas Heffernan married Mary Ann King of Irishtown Clonmel 16/02/1874. The Heffernan family are in the Ireland 1901 census for Tipperary.
Mary Ann was the mother of my grandmother Mary Ann Goodman (nee Heffernan).
Great grandmother Mary Ann Heffernan (nee King) died 12/07/1927.
There is a headstone for the Heffernan family in the cemetery, at Clonmel Co.Tipperary. There are no Heffernans living in Clonmel at present -from my ancestors.

bgoodman Thanks for your reply I think that I will have to look at baptism records now that this may possibly be a connection. My Winnifred would have been 53 at the time of Mary Ann kings birth. She is quite difficult to track down in Australia where she went. There is a branch of the Honan family who she married into in Australia. I am thinking that someone may have more info on the Honan family of that time and may perhaps have some info on Winnifred herself. I cannot find a death record either for her. There is very little about her at this stage. Thanks Hereford
