Hi, I need to copy all my doc/pics etc onto a Flash Drive, prior to PC having to go into Workshop next week.
I have a couple of 8GB drives I could use but I've been looking on Amazon for a suitable 16GB Flash Drive but there are so many that it's pretty difficult to choose.
Can anyone recommend from their own experience, a safe, fast & reliable 16GB Flash Drive please?
Thanks
Barbara

Hi Barbara,
I got a HP 16GB one half price at WH Smiths a few weeks ago and that has been very good.

Hi Pinetree,
Thanks very much for the tip, I'll bear that in mind.

Hi radstockjeff,
Glad to hear you had a good buy with the Intenso 16gb.
Unfortunately, a few weeks ago I bought an Intenso 64GB for £19 from Maplins online which turned out to be a bit of a disaster.
It was unbelievably slow copying my stuff, very disappointing and just to add to it, I connected it to my PC a few weeks later to check the data only to have a message appear saying 'unable to open, file corrupted'
Maybe I just got a Rogue.
Hence me not wanting (and can't afford) to make any more mistakes !!
Cheers
Barbara.

You won't go far wrong than the Sandisk Cruzer 16gb usb sticks on Amazon now only £6.91

We always buy from 7dayshop.com
Usually buy there own brand 7dayshop or Dane-Elec
Postage is very swift

I use Lexar jumpdrive flash drives, but be aware some drives are cheap and slow.
So in reality you get what you pay for.

Get two (different brands) and save on both, just in case.

I guess that I must have 5 - 10 memory sticks around me (somewhere!) which have been used like workhorses over the years, utterly faithful, maybe I've been lucky - one of them was even an unbranded freebie that I got at a trade fair! :)
Anyway, I've got a SanDisk Cruzer 16Mb - possibly the same one Hercule Poirot mentioned - and it's been fine. Got it from Argos for about a tenner from memory, so if you see it on Amazon at £6.91 as Hercule Poirot says, I would definitely consider it.
What I would say is that I have always put my memory sticks through their paces for a few months (eg. on rudimentary transfers between machines) before 'trusting' them for more critical jobs.
And the way prices are going, you could buy 2 and double up...

Hi,
Thanks all for the suggestions.
I nipped to WH Smiths and bought the HP flash drive mentioned by pinetree, for £9.99, so that I could get the copying done now before PC goes during the week.
I've done it all and it seems fine.
I have now got time to order the SanDisk Cruzer 16 GB(some reviews say it's very slow?) mentioned by Hercule Poirot & gaffy from Amazon, which will give me a spare for the future.
All advice much appreciated.
Cheers
Barbara.

I have 7 Sandisk drives, the only one I find to be slow is a 32gb, but all 16gb are quite fast, but everyone to their own preference as we can only give recommendations on here
