Title: Look up for Eleanor Baker born 1836 Recklington Essex
Post by: Muffin41 on Friday 09 November 12 14:49 GMT (UK)
Eleanor BAKER was born about 1836 in Recklington Essex.

She married Walter Tilbury 1856 in Southwark Surrey and died 1942 in Guildford Surrey

I have not been able to find anything else for her or the Baker family.

There are only (surprisingly) a few Eleanor Bakers born at approx that time in the 41 census.
And only one in the Essex area
Cottage Place, Great Bardfield, Dunmow, Essex.
Letitia Ruse age 39
Susanna Ruse 25
Mary Fitch 18
Nancy Salmon 15
Mary Deed 13
Hannah Davey 12
Louisa Whitehead 12
Emily Baker 9
Catherine Choat 8
Eleanor Baker 5
Susan Mayor 17

It may help to get Eleanors' wedding cert as this will/should provide a fathers name.
The marriage on freeBMD is for
Ellen Baker.  St George Southwark  1d 130
Walter Tilbury

Again in 51 She appears to be in a school?
London Road, Braintree, Essex
Catherine M Hart, School Mistress
.....
Eleanor Baker, Pupil, 15, Scholar.  Hampsted Essex

They then appear together in all other census, except I cant find them in 71 and 01 but there appear to be no clues as to Eleanors orginal origins I'm afraid

I have looked everywhere I can think of, but I can`t spot the marriage as yet.  By the way eldest son John was born Rettendon not Rayleigh on the 1851 census.

Your right there Mo, I´m  ::) as well :)

It should be about 1804 when and if they married
If we date that  +/- 5 years then that would be the lastest year that they married.
Also some of the early records are a little dubious ::)

I have a website (at Rootsweb) on UK Tilburys, including Walter Tilbury of Guildford. I would like to add your info regarding his wife - would all you contributors agree to this?

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cmtilbury/guildfordnsurrey.html

The page needs some work ...
