Title: Birmingham local government
Post by: CATZPAW on Friday 09 November 12 05:27 GMT (UK)
Hi all
I have reason  believe (from family stories) that Thomas Winkles 1830-1907 was a local councillor in Birmingham in the late 1800's. I have no idea which political party he would have been allied to.

I have all the vital records for him including both his marriages but I would appreciate any help with the local government aspect.

Kind regards
CATZPAW

There appear to be mentions of him in the Birmingham Daily post in his job as councillor. They are available on the British Newspaper Library website (pay per view)

The Local History floor at Birmingham Central Library have extensive City Council records but access is very restricted at the moment due to the imoending move to the new premises.
