Title: Need help finding Ggrandfather Harold Hammond b about 1905.
Post by: Hammond01 on Wednesday 07 November 12 17:20 GMT (UK)
I have a copy of my G grandfather and G grandmothers marriage.  From this I have been able to trace my G grandmothers family on the census'.  However, I am struggling to find my G grandfather.

The info I have is the following:

Harold Hammond m Sarah Hawkins 25 Dec 1924.
Both were 19.
Harolds father - Harold Hammond, Carman, Deceased.
They were married in Fitzroy Sq W1 and both lived in the Camden area (NW1).

One of the witnesses was F Hammond - possibly my G grandfathers mother/brother/sister?

Can anyone else see my G grandfather/GG grandfather on the census?

Thanks

Hi

Would you post the complete details from the marriage cert?

Addresses? Other witness(es)?
Full names?

Thanks!
Ray

Sarah Hawkins, aged 19, no occupation
193 Drummond St, NW1

No worries, my Ggrandmother was Sarah Hawkins, her details are above too.

With regards to Florence, I think you are right, should have known that.  My dad always refers to her as 'Doll, so threw me a bit!!

Sorry Ray, doesn't take a lot to confuse me!!

No, I don't know the name of Harold Snr's wife.  I was hoping that when I got the marriage cert and Harold Jnr's fathers name that I may be able to find them living together on the census as a family (as I did with Sarah).  But like I said in my original message, I can't seem to find a family that is 'likely' to be them, wasn't sure if I was just missing them?

As far as I know my fathers family (Hammonds) have always lived in the Camden area of London, or on the borders, i.e Islington etc, but this is not a fact.

Hi

Try searching 1911 for . . . . .

Harold Arthur Hammond 30
Jane Agnes Hammond 26
living in Witham.

We aren't allowed to do it for you.

Thanks for all the help, it is looking likely that they are the Witham family though as some of the siblings names match up.  I will have to do a bit bit more research to confirm this but this is a great place to start.
