Hi Alexine,

Can you tell us anymore about the family in NZ?
I can see possible deaths for Cornelius and David on NZ BDM but haven't found a death for Fanny/Frances Donovan/Germain in NZ.  Nor can I see a death for Clara/Claire Donovan in NZ or NSW.  Do you already have all this info?

I can see another couple of births for Fanny and Cornelius in NZ - Cornelius in 1879 and Angelina in 1877.  There is a possible death for Cornelius in 1879 with this article
http://tinyurl.com/bxcf9r3
mentioning that he was leaving a widow with 5 children and asking for help to finance the burial.

And possible remarriages for Fanny Donovan in NZ

I can see another possible marriage for David to  Clara May Pain  in 1908 in NZ.

regards,
   Ros

Hello again , David married my g-aunt Clara Dovovan ( nee Pain),born in tasmania, in nelson ,New Zealand.
There always was the story in the family that he had been married before, did you say you found a death for both

This couple had six children in SA from 1859 - 1871 though three died in Apr 1866 (most likely from a contagious illness).
Cornelius age 22, son of Cornelius, married in Adelaide 11 Aug 1858 to Mary Ann KEARRIS.

Another possibility for Cornelius Donovan.  This one rewarded for finding gold fields near Ballarat in 1862 http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article72514764.  Don't think it can be the same one who deserted Mary Ann in Adelaide as they were still having children in 1871 ..

The following return, showing the amount awarded for the discovery of new gold fields in the year 1862, has just been issued -
For the discovery of Donnelly's Creek, John Donnelly, Crockett, and another, £650; for the discovery of Walsh's Creek, John M. Connell, John Walsh, and J. R. Mearoy, 200; for the discovery of Donovan's Creek, Cornelius Donovan, £200; total, £1050.

cheers,
   Ros

adding : yes it could be. He goes back to Adelaide and Mary Ann and then later deserts her in 1874'ish.

Interesting find Rhonda  :)

Yes I was thinking that the one who found gold was probably the one who married Bridget and died in 1894 leaving a will.
