Hello Woolara,
I wonder if this is where you found it http://www.dnr.me.uk/ncfhs2/NCFHS_forms/liblistmay2011.pdf which appears to be a list of books held by the North Cheshire Family History Society. It's a short way down on p5. No author.
If you go to http://archive.cheshire.gov.uk/calmview/ and enter the words Hammond Gawsworth in the search box you should be taken to an item which might also be of interest (if, indeed, it's not the same as the one listed above).

Thanks very much. I believe the Hammond line I am searching is Mary born 1718 and father Robert. So I am trying to find family before that.

Is this the Robert Hammond you refer to:
Gawsworth St James "Robert Hammond of the Dale House ... 23 May 1767 aged 86 years" (partial transcription, see Macclesfield Ferrets 'Memorial Inscriptions of the Macclesfield District' for full info).
His will dd 1767 names wife Elizabeth and offspring including married dtr Mary, also grand-children. Worth a look if you haven't seen it already - order from CRO, or images are online on FindMyPast.
There are some other Gawsworth wills pre-1767, though I think at least some relate to the Hammonds of Mosshead, Gawsworth.
Re dtr Mary: she appears to have married William Wardle of Henbury/Pexall 1739. FindMyPast and familysearch suggest the marriage took place in Church Hulme, but don't take that for gospel... However, if it did, then maybe that is a clue to the Hammond family's whereabouts earlier in the century if not in Gawsworth???

Hi Woolara
I have done a lot of research on the Hammonds of Gawsworth and have various family trees going back to early 1500's. If you get in touch privatly I can pass on some information to you.

Hi Trishmusic
I'm writing from Vancouver Island in British Columbia. I was very excited to see your post about the Hammonds of the Gawsworth area and that you had information on some of them dating back to the early 1500s. My ancestor is one John Hammond born 1672, maybe in Warwickshire, but died in Gawsworth in 1718. He was a reverend and married to an Alice Lucy. His father was potentially a George Hammond. He may have had a brother Robert. Do any of these names match your information on the Gawsworth Hammonds? If so are you willing to share it with me? I look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi Trishmusic
I sent you a post in early November but I don’t think you have logged into rootschat since before that date hence you probably haven’t seen my post. Do you think you can help me with my request? Have a good day.

Hi Sooke-Jay
Sorry but I have only just seen your posts.
I have had a quick look at Rev John Hammond and I do appear to have some info on him. Are your dates correct? I have a copy of an inscription which is inside Gawsworth Church giving his date of birth as 1651 and death as 1724. It also gives details of wife Alice and her fathers name.
John Hammonds father was also a John Hammond of Hatton in Shropshire. The Warwickshire connection is through his wife Alice. He received his B.A. in 1672 and M.A. in 1674
Am recovering from surgery at he moment, but as soon as things get back to normal I will be in touch with the information that I have.
Kind regards and Happy New Year

Hi Trish
Thanks so much for getting back to me. I was beginning to think you had withdrawn from the rootschat forum. I hope your surgery went well and that you won’t be bed bound for too long. I am afraid I gave the wrong dates for my John Hammond. He was actually born in Gawsworth in 1662 and died there in 1718. I can’t be sure of these dates as they were found in a Family Search file. And his wife was Alice Lucy born 1664 died in Gawsworth 1697. John’s father was maybe a George but I have nothing to corroborate that. Alice’s father was Fulk Lucy. The dates I have may very well be wrong since I don’t have any sources other than what was contained in the Family Search file. I’d love to hear more about John Hammond Sr. and where he was from. Any information you have on the Hammonds would be warmly welcomed. Take care and I wish you a speedy recovery. Do you need my email address to send me information? I don’t know the protocol about sharing email addresses or going offline so to speak. Maybe you know how to do this. Get well soon. Cheers, Jay Hammond
