Hi!
I am trying to find the family of Samuel and Sarah Macey in the census returns.
According to submitted records on the IGI, Samuel Macey was christened in
1798 in Fisherton de la Mere and married Sarah Doughty there in 1818.
They had the following children, all christened in Fisherton de la Mere.
James 1819
Jane 1821
John 1822
Eliza 1824
Elizabeth 1825
William 1827
Charles 1829
Henry 1831
Anna Maria 1834
Jane 1835
Emma 1837
Anna Maria married George Cummins in 1856 and I have the details
for her from 1861 onwards, but I would really like to find her in 1851
and also be able to trace her parents in the census returns.
If anyone can help, I would be very grateful.
Thanks!
Ju

Hi!
Thanks for your reply!
Given his age in 1861, I think Samuel may have died prior to the 1871 census
- there is a record on FreeBMD for the death of a Samuel Macey registered in
the district of Wilton in the Qtr to Mar 1864 - though I may be wrong!
FreeBMD also shows the death of Sarah Macey aged 84 in the district of Wilton
in the Qtr to Mar 1878, so I hope that she can be found on the 1871 census,
perhaps with one of their children.
Thanks again for your help.
Best wishes,
Ju

Hi there!
It never ceases to amaze me just how much help you receive in answer to any
lookups posted on this site - Thanks to both of you for your help.
Debbie, if you have got the details of the the other Macey families in Fisherton
in the 1851 Census I would love to see them, as I think they may relate to
Samuel and Sarah's children.
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that the Sarah I'm looking for is the one
who died in 1878 and that she will turn up somewhere in 1871.
Tanja, I had a look on FreeBMD and there is an entry for the birth of Dallas
Macey - I wonder where Henry & Harriet got that name from!!
Thanks again!

Hi Debbie!
I think I'm going to need a fair bit of luck to sort all those Maceys out!! Seriously,
thanks very much for sending me the details - it's great to have so much information
to go on.
I'm particularly keen to find the link between James Macey and Thomas Sparey,
his son-in-law, as the Spareys are another family I'm looking into - George Cummins
married Anna Maria Macey and their daughter, Mary Jane, married Henry William
Sparey in 1890.
I also think that the Sarah in 1871 is the one I'm looking for - I'm going to request a
copy of her death certificate to make sure, but the details for Jane fit and those for
Sarah herself aren't a million miles away!
Thanks once again - you've really been a great help!

Hi, I know you are tracing the MACEY line. I have in my line Ellen Macy, b. 1847 at Barsham, Warminster, Wilts, who married Henry ADLAM (b. 1838) at Warminster. Her parents are Henry Macey and Ann, but I have no information.
Do we have anyone in common here?
Best wishes, Sandy Morris

I am a Macey and 'my lot' came originally (?) from Chilmark in Wiltshire.
I have established reasonably reliable links back to late 1600's and have on filee many other Macey's who are not (so far) mine.
Is it definately Spary you have or could it be mispelled SPRAY ?
