I'm trying to find more solid info on the birth and the parents of the correct Thomas Hallam , the father to these children below. I have an estimated birth and details from what I have been told. He may have been a twin. I believe I may have found him in the 1871 Census, where he shows up, occupation... bricklayer, with 3 of the children, so presumably married abt 1863- 67 . I understand he may have emigrated with the family around Feb 1874 at age 30 . Can someone please give me his correct birth details/ cert, and his father and mothers details ? He was no doubt a Thomas as well. I am stuck with so many Thomas Hallams. Not even sure of his marriage details.

Hi
May I ask where Thomas's birth date and place of birth come from?
To progress with certainty, you really need to find out Thomas's father's name, from his marriage certificate. He married in 1864:
Radford St Peter, Nottinghamshire marriage
24 Jul 1864 - Thomas HALLAM & Lucy NEWTON
There are some kind people on the Notts board who may be able to look up the marriage in the parish register for you. That would save you buying the certificate.

It's hard to say whether that's the right one, as there are several Thomas Hallams living in Nottingham born around the same time. The one you mention was the son of Robert and Harriet, but there's another Thomas of the right age living with his parents in Sneinton (son of Thomas and Eliza), and another one in prison in Nottingham.

Thanks guys for helping out.
Alexander, My mother gave me that birth info, plus this......( apparently the mother never made it into the hospital itself, born in the back lane behind, at 3pm, when the time is given at birth it means there are twins.) but that's all I have to go on. Thanks for the marriage details, will see if I can get further with that......... Here's the 1871 Census that works out, showing him to be born in 1842. ??? Can we find a 1851 Census that matches his 1842 birth date?

Is this the NZ death?
If so the given name is not quite correct.

John Thomas

Have you ordered a printout of this registration in order to get family names?

ELIZA as a firstborn would point towards the Thomas and Eliza in Sneiton in 1861 census that Freckneale has found ...most couples named their children after themselves or their parents names ....
