Title: Harriet Gordon Dawson
Post by: Joshua01 on Sunday 04 November 12 15:40 GMT (UK)
Hi,

I am trying to find out what happened to a Harriet Gordon Dawson who emigrated to South Africa in 1930 and later married a Gert Diedericks Le Roux. I know they had 4 children but nothing more.

Thanks

Josh try this link http://www.national.archsrch.gov.za/sm300cv/smws/sm300ds?20121105103019DFFD1305

Appears her husband died in 1968 and she was still alive. To get a copy of the file in the above link. The Genealogical Society of South Africa has a "pay to use" service which will enable you to obtain pictures of documents held in the National Archives.

Go to http://www.eggsa.org and select Content --> On Line Shop --> order Archive documents.  Once you have selected the currency, select "Enter the Shop" and then select "Archive photos" (in yellow on the blue band) and follow the instructions.

Much quicker than trying to get the Archives to reply to your e-mail requests!!  Good luck Derek.
