Title: Coroner's report - what are the chances?
Post by: Parmesan on Thursday 01 November 12 23:11 GMT (UK)
An accidental death in 1853.  Death cert says coroner, Mold.

Are those records still likely to exist?

I think you'll find more details about the death in local newspapers than official records (which are less likely to have survived). Have you tried www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk ?

Was the death in Flintshire? You just said Wales. If in Flint, the URL you had referred to the records in Mold ().
There is a book which describes Coroners records for each county in England and Wales, giving years available and where located. The book is:

they say the years before 1916 are very scarce

If you give them a ring or an email (contact details on first link) they will be able to tell you if they have the records for that year

Hope that helpsKind regards

The death was in Dymeirchion which I believe is now Tremeirchion?  As well as the informant's name there is also Peter Parry, Coroner, Mold.

I get confused with my Welsh lot.  It seems to me the county they lived in changed from Denbighshire to Flintshire on a whim (or it could just be me!)

have you looked for newspaper reports. Several Welsh newspapers are available through the National Library of Wales external resources, free if you live in Wales.

very much so thank you malijibic!  :)

Morris Davies died 2 September 1853 at Cildaugoed, Dymeirchion, accidental death. Peter Parry, coroner, Mold.  He was a miller so guessing a mill accident.  He was 44.
From my own investigations on google maps I think 'Cildaugoed' is still there.
Thanks again.
