Title: Mary Ann Lingard
Post by: jeanie68 on Thursday 01 November 12 18:25 GMT (UK)
Hello

Hope you can help. Mary Ann Lingard born 1833 to Anthony Lingard and Hannah Wardle. Baptised 1837 Collegiate Manchester. I think I have her on the 1851 census as a General Servant to Henry and Jane Litchfield in Cheetham Manchester. I have checked Lancashire BMD and there is an entry of marriage in 1853 of Mary A Lingard and Thomas Bushall at St Thomas Church Pendleton, this would fit as St Thomas' seems to be the church the Lingards were baptised and married in. I can find nothing after this point.

Any help much appreciated

Jeanie

Jeanie, I have to rush off now - but have you tried searching for Bushell ?

Kind regards,

Pels.

Hi again Jeanie,

Well, I'm hopeless because I can't come up with anything either and it's not for the want of trying.
I've pointed your thread in the direction of a couple of other people who might not have noticed it.

Fingers crossed !  :) :)

Hello Jeanie,

The 1841 shows that Mary Ann was 4 years old so born between 1836/7.

This is one to keep on the backburner as I think she may have married a John Gerrard at St. Mary`s, Eccles in 1860, but unfortunately the full record is not online.  I would suggest checking www.lan-opc.org.uk from time to time as it is updated regularly.  I have looked at the 1861 - 1901 census and it shows she was born Pendleton.  Her age did vary though  - 22, 32, 43, 55 and 64  ::) .  They lived in Bedford, Leigh and all children are shown with the mothers maiden name of Lingard on www.lancashirebmd.org.uk .

Kind regards,
Mo

Thanks Mo, I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and order the Bushell marriage certicate and see where it takes me  ;)

Worth bearing in mind that her sister Sarah also married at St. Mary the Virgin, Eccles in 1855 and two of Anthony`s children appear to be buried at the same church.
