Title: Steynton Churchyard - William WRIGHT
Post by: Amanda134 on Thursday 01 November 12 14:05 GMT (UK)
Hi

I was wondering if anyone had any records of the grave layout in Steyton churchyard or had taken any photographs of the gravestones in the churchyard.

I have just had confirmation that my ancestor, William Wright is buried there. William Wright and Sarah Child married in Steynton Church on 7th. April 1822.
He was buried in Steynton Churchyard on 3rd. February 1857 aged 55 years.

Thank you for your help.
Kind regards
Amanda

Hi Amanda

Have you had any luck with this request?  I live quite near Steynton and could have a look around the graves (an unfortunate obsession of mine).  Don't forget that many poorer people were buried without headstones, so results can't be guaranteed.

Hello algobr

Welcome to Rootschat :)

I know i`m being Cheeky but when you go to Steynton Churchyard, could you please see if there are any " Browns".The time scale would be in the 1700s.
When i come to Pembrokeshire ,i too go round Graveyards looking for Ancestors ;D ;D ;D but dont know where my 5x Greatgrandfather Bartholomew Brown was buried, yet. His Parents lived in Steynton

Kind Regards

Hi Algobr

I have been touch with the church, but they can only confirm he was buried there and nothing else.
Thank you so very much for the kind offer. That would be wonderful. William was a mariner, so am not sure how well off he was.

Thanks so very much. It's very much appreciated.
Kind regards
Amanda

Hi Omega & Amanda

Pembrokeshire is currently in the middle of the monsoon season.  I'll pop in to Steynton churchyard for a look as soon the weather clears - I drive past on my way to Tescos in Milford Haven.
