My family moved at one time from Co.Antrim to Scotland.I believe it was to the Govan area. Please could anyone help me, their names were Adam and Sarah Humphrey and two children, Margaret and Adam. I believe that both Adams may have been in the poor house. Any information would be amazing, especially regarding deaths etc.

Thanks ever so much, would you have any ideas on why both her husband and son were in Govan poorhouse in 1891 and she wasn't? Would you know were she was in 1891?
-
Have you looked at the image on SP ?(On the index the maiden name could be Humphrey or Gray)
It may not be your Sarah :-\
The other thing would be to look at the original 1891 Census on SP to see if Adam is married or widowed.

They may have been in the Poor House hospital
This looks like Sarah with a duplicate entry for Adam
Sarah Humprey 50 Wife born Ireland occ Outdoor worker
Margt Humprey 16
Adam Humprey 9
Adam Humprey 10
Address
77 George St Partick Govan

There is a marriage for an Adam Humphrey in 1901 Lanark(SP)
If that is your Adam(junior?) it should have his parents names and note if they were deceased or not

Added - well there is an Adam Humphrey on the 1901 Census age 21 in Lanark but birthplace is given as Glasgow

Apologies to all, not familiar with Scottish links, also not too computer literate! Have ms so thinking can be slow. Appreciate all the help you can give.

There's a Cpl. Adam Humphrey born Whiteinch, Lanarkshire but living in Motherwell in WWII King's Own Scottish Borderers, killed in action 17 Aug.1917. Not sure is here's the correct Adam and/or the one in 1901 census. Unfortunately CWGC site gives no details of parents or possible spouse-

Thank you one and all. Ev - confirming that the marriage in 1901 is the correct Adam junior. Don't think the ww1 death is him. Would like to ask sancti were to find the information regarding the address given in Glasgow.
-
Were both parents both deceased(dec.) on the 1901 marriage certificate ?
What was Adam's wife's name ?
Think sancti found that address on the 1891 Census transcription

ev, yes Adam's parents were both deceased. His wife is Jane Smellie Love. I found 2 births registered to Adam (Jnr) and Jane (Love) - an Adam 20/10/1901 and an Agnes 1/11 1907 (today!!). Sadly I also found that the little girl died on 7/11/1918 age 11yrs. The amazing thing is that the father (Adam) IS the ww1 soldier previously mentioned - gives his details on the death certificate of Agnes - what a journey today has been!

The address was from the census transcription
The Poorhouse Hospital would have been this one

Good find by Aghadowey :)
Adam's army number is quite low(7795) so I would suspect he was in the Army before 1914(or enlisted early)
You might want to post on the Armed Forces board on Rootschat to see if you can find out anything
else about Adam junior. There will be a medal card at the very least.

Going to try and pick your brains one last time, please. OK, I know that there was an Adam Humphrey(junior) born 1901, son of Adam and Jane (nee Love) Humphrey. Can't find any marriage or death record for him after that. Any suggestions? Had thought about possible emigration - any sites that would give me further info?
